Day 20 - May 24 - A Change Of Pace

No cycling today. 

Today we spent the day exploring the "pre Alps" with Frank and Natalie, in a CAR and on FOOT. A nice change. 

First stop Oberwoelz 

A small village, which is actually allowed to be called a "town" based on history and various victories. (Population, less than 1,000). The town walls remain as do the doors to the town.  But they let anyone in...

And we got the history lesson (and some of the gossip too 😉) from an old friend of Frank's family who was a charming host. 

Wandering the city in all its history and beauty. 

And we even met the Mayor. 

Then the drive to achtal. 

Oh wait, hehe, that's Lachtal, with an L. 

The ski village is quiet - indeed deserted... but we took the time to hit the slopes for a spring ski.  

And a hike up.  

And a hike down 😳 (harder than going up for sure). 

What a day. 

Staying in this lovely chalet tonight  (another friend of Frank's!)
