We found it!
It sounded like a lovely idea, a ride along the coast, first time on Euro Velo 1, and the Atlantic on our right... but the roads are narrow, the bike paths are a real mixture, the road traffic is heavier, and there are a lot of ups and downs.
We stopped for lunch in Saint Jean de Luz, Marc had made a delicious potato and green bean salad with olives and cucumber, using up the veggies we had carried around for several days.
And good thing we had it because we couldn't seem to get a cafe or a pastry today - the lines were too long or the shops had closed. Just one of those days (Day 13 perhaps??)...
Tapas and wine and even some gelato on the walk home.
Tomorrow we will not ride. We will explore San Sebastian and plan our train ride north from here. Riding that coast one way was enough for us.
Stats for today.

Belatedly catching up! Movie link yesterday worked perfectly. Glad you have a day off tomorrow - the hills and weather of your past several days have sounded rather trying! But views are indeed beautiful! Love all the little towns. Take care!

ReplyDeleteWere you originally planning to ride that stretch both ways? A train ride north sounds like a much better plan - brutal section of road you showed in your photo. And holy yoyo riding batman - that's some serious up and down, up and down on your elevation map.

Yes. Exactly. We thought, oh we will ride down and then back up. A coastal ride. How lovely. Yikes! We have booked the train!
