Trees. Glorious trees. The trees here are spectacularly tall and old and beautiful.
We left the campground and went to Pointe du Decolle. Less than 2 kms from our campsite and just at the end of a street of lovely old houses, and then this stunning point.
I am happy to say that the tide was in and we saw some happy boats. No sad boats today.
From here we cycled west to Dinard, which is across the Rance from Saint Malo. We decided to take the ferry across to get the impressive introduction to Saint Malo from the water.
We had a funny interaction with two local.police, on Segways. I was walking my bike, and they stopped me, to tell me I had to walk my bike. 🙃. I wish I had a photo but I was just too confused 🤣
The view from Dinard was stunning, I have waited to see Saint Malo this whole trip!
We took the bateaux rouge, a short 10 minute ferry crossing with only one other couple aboard. Much less chaotic than previous ferry rides for sure.
And we arrived in the beautiful walled city of Saint Malo. (The blue sky is real, not enhanced. It has been a beautiful day.)
We have a lovely air BNB apartment in the heart of Saint Malo. It is fantastic. But we haven't had much time to stroll. As soon as we took off our panniers and threw our clothes in the washing machine we headed for Decathlon. Marc had a broken spoke so we needed to get the help of the bike mechanic. All fixed.
Another 20k but without all the weight we felt a bit like we had e-bikes again!
We had a wonderful dinner at a local restaurant, Le Comptoir Breizh Café where they specialize in a mix of local and japanese in their approach. For example, they serve the crepes rolled and sliced as if it is sushi. It was very good.
Tomorrow we will explore Saint Malo (on foot).
Our two rides today have us totaling 1,002 km and 9,224 meters of climbing so far, on this trip. That's a good reason to celebrate, and take a day out of the saddle.
Go Edmonton Go - Game 7!
All of Canada is cheering for you!
Enjoy your walkabout tomorrow!

ReplyDeleteAre you sure Marc didn't break the spoke just so he could visit another bike store and talk to the local mechanic about bikes ;)
