June 20 - Day 16 - Tour de Bretagne

We hugged the coast today, from Paimpol to Pordic, in mostly SUNshine and some stunning views.

The fun thing about a Bed and Breakfast is that you often get some good conversation over breakfast (and some very good coffee + croissant + homemade yogurt...).  Our host had lots of good stories about Bretagne, the languages (Breton and Gallo), the islands (Jersey is a good place to store excess cash 😉), and some interesting facts about Saint Malo - a Canadian owns the home of Jacques Cartier, and this is where Cartier sailed from in 1534. So many things to discover there.

It is always fun to make new friends and hear new stories, like my Dad always did.

As we left Paimpol we saw the other side of the Abbey and took the path through the marsh.

Our route took us along the coast, where we intersected with many hikers and stopped at a few beautiful lookouts.

There was literally a field of hydrangeas here! A field. It was like a dream.

We were promised sun by 11 am (our B&B owner had a good weather app) and actually this prediction did come true. It is still cool, but nothing like sunny skies to make the hills a little more bearable.

Climbs to beautiful views and then descents to port towns and beaches.

We found both Saint Barbe (for my mom) and Saint Marc (for, well, Marc actually).

It was a great day to be back on our bikes.
Another 50 k and another 650 + meters of climbing

Sleep well

  1. Wow- now that’s a coast ride if I ever saw one. Such a cool spot - doesn’t look like a campground but I guess that’s how they do it in France !

    1. This is one of the prettiest campgrounds we have been in. Every plot is surrounded by hedges, some are 10 feet high, some are flowering bushes. It makes is beautiful and private and shady. And the birds live it here too
