We were combination cycle touring and just plain tourists today as we stopped at some fun sites along the way.
(I think my phone screen is dirty from sunscreen oops)...
We left Camping La Roche and headed for the lighthouse - Cap Frehel. Along the way we crossed a couple of viaducts, cycled past pretty meadows, a cool marsh and lots of big beautiful trees.
The road out to the lighthouse was about 10 k of windswept sea landscape no trees, just beaches and dunes and low vegetation. Quite beautiful. So many gorgeous views.
And then we got there!
After the Lighthouse (Phare), onto the second tourist stop Fort la Latte. We had to leave our bikes and walk about one km to get to the Fort, right on the sea's edge, overhanging the rocks. There was a downloadable tour, which was so helpful. The restoration was impressive. Much still from the 14th and 15th centuries, and then lots of work in the hundreds of years since. This has been the set for a few movies - Three Musketeers.
#3 is where we ended our day, the most amazing campsite looking back on the Baie and we can see Fort la Latte (see small red arrow point out the Fort).
The ride along the bay was pretty, with several kilometers of this ring road along the waters edge, and a few good climbs.
We took our time and enjoyed our kilometers today. And we are looking forward to the sunrise at this lovely campsite.

Wishing you a good night.

ReplyDeleteThe whole day looked pretty glorious all ‘round. Thanks for sharing the photos.
It was definitely one of our best days yet, great weather, gorgeous landscape, sites, architecture, and a grassy comfortable campsite with an amazing view. And the baguette with dinner was so crunchy on the outside it almost hurt to pull it apart YUM
DeleteYou definitely deserve some nice weather, beautiful landscape and some tail winds!!
