We changed our minds, we didn't go to Chablis.
The campground in Chablis was closed so we decided to continue our journey towards Parc Morvan, but first we explored beautiful Auxerre.
And of course ....
And then we got on the path and followed the canal south. It was a lovely ride, going by several locks, but seeing no boats. At one lock, the water was draining slowly for .... This lovely family of swans.
And then, to our surprise, we saw a boat, almost as wide as the canal, filled with bikes and cyclists. Very cool. And they were English so we said HELLO.
Our lunch stop was a very old, charming city, where we found shade, and a bench, and water, and even a garbage can (which is a big deal).
And then we left the canal and climbed. A gravel road, in the heat 😧
But the hill was worth it, we found the cute village of Vermenton, and we are at a lovely quiet, shaded campground enjoying the evening as it finally cools off.
Just outside the campground is a park, along the Cure River, with a small beach, and beautiful willow trees.
Nice ice cream selection, that park near the campground looks heavenly. Ahh those big gravel roads hill so scary going down.

DeleteDefinitely earning the ice cream :)
ReplyDeleteMissing my ice cream pals!
DeleteOh my goodness - the willow trees in the park look straight out of a painting 😍 also - so strange that you don’t see a lot of garbages - was it just because you were in more rural locations I’m guessing?
ReplyDeleteWow - more beautiful sights today. And I thought Marc said you were leaving the "Disney route". I especially love the shot of the willows by the river.
