Favourite chateau!
But first we enjoyed such a great ride. I think this was the quintessential ride along the Loire today. Waving goodbye to Orleans and the Sunday farmers market, and riding out along a linear park and forest on an island in the river. Gorgeous
Note the phone booth has been converted to a little free library 💕
Our usual order was sold out so we tried new stuff - brioche with chocolate and an apple turnover. Can't really go wrong. These little bakeries seem so full of food, and then the line up is out the door and they are selling out. So fresh. So great.
The path was almost all paved and often on a levy along the river, making for lovely views and safe travels. We even had some moments with a tail wind. More swans in one place than I have ever seen (other than the Swan Ride at Centreville)
Complete with a moat!
This Chateau made me so happy.
And then we stopped for a cold drink at a velo cafe only to find it was a museum of sorts. The proprietor bought the old Helyett factory and has made a small museum and cafe. Very cool. He and Marc had a good long chat.
The bridge from our campground to the chateau is bikes only. Gotta love the bike infrastructure here.
We met a young couple who had hopped on the train in Paris, with their bikes and their dog, and they were cycling a few days along the Loire. Admittedly I didn't mean to take the photo of them, the lemonade was good too☺️
Camping on the north side of the Loire with a lovely view. (You can see that same steeple in the bridge shot.)
Tomorrow is our last day on the Loire. What a lovely cycling experience it has been. And so much history, and beauty. So I made sure to dip my toes in the river today, like my Dad would have done ❤️
Stats for the day, a winding path along the river for another 60k
That castle would of made me happy too, so Amazing, I didn't know that France was so bike friendly, can't wait to go too.
ReplyDeleteWow! That is beautiful! I’m inspired; maybe a bike trip through Loire is in my future?!? Great photos and synopsis!
