We woke to quick a brisk morning (12 degrees). Packing the panniers is always easier when you are wearing lots of clothes. 😉
On the road again, the giant pine trees are striking along the side of the road, and the day began to warm.
We found the bakery! And the Council House restaurant lives up to the promises. The BLT!
We arrived in French Camp a little early for lunch so we toured around and met some nice locals. There is an Academy, a highschool with borders, which has a lovely campus including a lake and stables. And the historic village is well kept and charming.
On the road again, we made good time, and enjoyed the ride. We are starting to take for granted the lack of attention needed for navigating, we don't even ever have to stop at an intersection or a light on the Trace. We practically have the road to ourselves.
We made it to Kosciusko, and took a little "short cut" to head into town.
Oops! We ended up behind a locked gate (with barbed wire) at a factory of some kind. As we stood puzzling about what to do, the gate magically opened so we smiled to the security camera and got the heck outta there.
We headed for the Walmart for some provisions, and set up camp at the COC (cyclist only campground) on the edge of the Trace.
Mexican for dinner! And another early night as the sun sets on Kosciusko.
Weird place for a gated area- you probably stumbled into a top secret mission of some kind in the middle of nowhere! A gate that opens from the security camera???? Cool!
