It rained and the wind howled.
And the temperature dipped, even more than predicted.
😳
We were so happy to have a restaurant so close for hot coffee and breakfast.
That's ok, we are heading south.
Right?
Toe warmers, leg warmers and wind pants, wool beanies and long gloves. Wear it all! And we did.
The Trace follows the Ross R Barnett Reservoir, much like a lake, we cycled down the western shore by the Cypress Swamp and Overlook
It was too cold to stop for photos or snacks. We just carried on hoping for warmth.
Just after the Reservoir Overlook, the Chisa Foka Multi-Use Trail runs alongside the Trace. So we had a nice change. A bike path. No cars and more twists and turns and hills.
We hopped off the bike path to visit a Bike Shop, and got GREAT advice and directions to head to Fondren, the "hipster" / up-and-coming neighborhood we are staying in, and where to eat.
We did ignore the Road Closed sign, and followed the directions we were given. It is Saturday, no workers and no cars. Pretty sweet.
We were cold.
We pulled into Barrel House Restaurant and our bikes found their own little parking lot on the patio - no one was eating out side today. 1:00 pm in Jackson and the temperature is still reading "Feels like 2 degrees"
Stats today
Not much wildlife in this cold.
I did see a few snakes on the road (they had not made it to the other side). Glad I saw them after the night of camping.
Average speed slowed as we cycled the bike path and city roads.
