Day 10 - Ratliff Ferry

Today was a social day

As we headed south we saw 3 road cyclists whiz by all in Rapha gear.  A few miles later we saw Bill (Bonfire Bill from day 2) riding north, and few miles later there was Kim in the camper as his support. We stopped and had a good catch up with Kim

Next stop was Robinson Road for lunch and Dave the Biker (Harley) chatted us up with tales of his extended travels and ideas of where to stop and camp.

Our final leg of the day and I watched my rearview as the road cyclists caught us (they were doing an out and back 100). They announced "on your left!" (I couldn't help myself on my fully loaded, front and back pannier touring bike, I responded "yep, I'm on your right 😜".

And then we caught up to them at Ratliff Ferry.

They had stopped for a drink, we stopped for the night. They were very nice and full of advice for bike paths and bike shops and pizza restaurants Ridgeland and Madison.

Camping beside the boat launch has entertained us for a few hours as we wait for the restaurant to open at 5.

Lots more beauty on the Trace as we saw some swampy lands and cattle grazing today.

Tonight we are being warned to brace for rain and cold. We are set up and ready. Layers of clothing and our special clips for our quilts in place.

Stats today

Good speed. Few hills. New friends.

  1. Hope the wet and cold wasn’t as wet and cold as they predicted… anytime you have to clip your quilts in place can’t be great news!! Hope you get some sunshine soon!
