Day 7 - Rest in Tupelo

On the seventh day, we rest.

Seems like good advice.

We rested, and provisioned, and did laundry, and we were tourists. Fun day.

Tupelo. The home of Elvis Presley, as a child. We went to see his house. It is in a small, unpretentious little community on the east side of Tupelo. There were even bike lanes to get there!

Very cute, very well done. Elvis bought back the house, and some of the surrounding property when money was no longer an issue for the family. They have the house, a chapel, and lovely grounds with trees and benches and fountains and statues.

I had my Auntie Susie with me in my heart the whole time I was there. She was a huge Elvis fan, and I was a huge fan of her ♥️

Tupelo is very proud of Elvis. He is everywhere!

After exploring the Elvis home we had to get some tasks done.

The bikes got washed and groceries carefully chosen for weight and caloric value, everything is a trade off.

As we were leaving Kroger with our pannier full of instant oatmeal, prunes, couscous and salami, a car stopped in front of us and a lady (in a Tshirt with a bicycle) jumped out to say hello. We chatted quite a while. She gave us some helpful advice for the Trace and stories of other trips. Very nice.

Lunch at Cafe 212 on Main Street, where the food was delicious and the local lunch hustle was fun to be part of. (Did not try the Blue Suede Special, stuck to my usual turkey BLT)

The people in Mississippi have been so nice.  The ladies at the hotel are super friendly and chatty. Yes ma'am they are!

We had our own little happy hour on the patio of the hotel, it was such a sunny hot day.

We did a dinner repeat to Neon Pig. Hey when you find a good thing (walking distance from the hotel), why not?  We were greeted as regulars 😉

Today we had a short day. Tomorrow we have a very long one.

Enjoy the beautiful moon tonight.
