Day 14 - some days are hard

 It rained last night.

From 3:30 yesterday afternoon, until 6:30 this morning. And cold.

We just stayed in the tent. Our little oasis. Warm and dry. And emerged around 7. Made some coffee and oatmeal and packed up.

The roads were wet. The air was wet. It wasn't really raining but your glasses got wet, like riding in a cloud.

We pulled off the Trace at Port Gibson (not in water?) and found a McDonald's. Another oasis. Warm cinnamon buns and coffee, safe drinking water and power. We over stayed!

Then we rode and watched the mile markers get smaller and smaller. Mississippi is green and grey. Pretty trees and mossy branches.  Photos below too

We thought the Natchez State Park sounded like a good place to sleep. We have had good luck at State Parks. Well, until today.

The first hint was the detour sign, and then the paved road became gravel, and then we doubled back to the blocked off road and took it anyway.

But we found the park (the sign was wrapped in a tarp, which doesn't inspire confidence at he gate 😳).  Not sure this Park is actually open?

We are here. We found a bathroom with HOT water. We don't have any camping neighbors, but we did see an RV.

We put the straps on our quilts and are preparing for a cold night.

Tomorrow we finish the Trace. 🙂

Stats.

We saw some huge bulls today.

And wild pigs! Seriously. A little family of cute babies.
