We made it to Nantes and completed our Tour de Bretagne.
The ride into Nantes was well signed and didn't get busy until we were quite close to the city.
The Boulangerie stop was a wee bit of a crisis as they were SOLD OUT of pain au chocolat 😳. But we managed with another baked good specialty much like an apple turnover. It was delicious.
And then we stopped for lunch along the Erdre river heading into Nantes and shared a bench with a couple from Birmingham. Fun to meet new people and hear their stories - they drive a big camper and pull a car, and carry their folding e-bikes in the car. They were out for a ride on them. Very cool. They have been all over Europe and the UK. Spain is their favorite.
We did remember Nantes from last year, the incredible cathedral and the cobblestone streets. But we didn't explore for too long, we were happy to be crossing our finish line.
Final Strava stats total
27 days
1,304.74 kms cycled
11,190 meters climbed
(And approximately 25 pain au chocolat consumed 😋)
As they say, when one tour closes, another one opens....
Congrats to the French riders winning the first two stages. Bon route to all the cyclists competing!
For us:
An evening spent at a local brew pub watching France beat Belgium in Euro Cup soccer. Fun to be part of the winning crowd, and happy to be back with good friends and their adorable daughters.
Sleep well.
Thanks for following us.
It is all done, but the packing!
Bonne Nuit.
Such a wonderful trip!

ReplyDeleteAwesomazing- my new word. My calcs show that to be 1 chocolate croissant or should I say PAChocolat every 52kms- not bad! Look forward to seeing you home in a few days….. great shots and to cover that distance in the crappy weather is downright remarkable!
ReplyDeleteGreetings!! Looking forward to your arrival at home. Seems as though you had a great experience. Travel safely! XXOOMom
