Cabot Trail - Day 1

After three days of driving from Toronto, including an awesome lunch stop at the Hardiman's in NDG, a charming Gite in Sainte Anne de la Perade, exploring Fredricton, and finishing a Louise Penny audio 18 hour audiobook... we are here in beautiful Cape Breton, to cycle the "World Famous" Cabot Trail.  298 kms around the island of Cape Breton.

Our first night was spent at Baddeck Family Campground, along with several thousand large and hungry mosquitoes and horse flies. EEK and OUCH. But we survived.

We settled for the night and headed out after a breakfast of Anne Marie's famous Irish Soda Bread.

Today the route was inland as we made our way towards the coast. We will ride clockwise and take 5 days to return to Baddeck.

Lots of forest, lakes and hills. And even an Eagle!

We are finding the people lovely, and the scenery beautiful. Some clouds in our way but so far we have stayed warm and dry.

Camping tonight at Live Life in Tents. A little rustic, complete with a snake in the outhouse 😳, but a beautiful view and picnic tables!!

Wild strawberries and wild roses line the road, on the way to the CO-OP for groceries and then an evening walk to the river.

A good first day on the Trail.
